A Little NOOKy

I’m back in business. The business of reading that is.

Let me explain:

I gave up my Nook for the month of November to participate in NaNoWriMo. I mean, I went so far as to banish the device to my mother’s house so I wouldn’t be tempted to take it out and read instead of write.
Now that NaNo is over, I have my NOOK back and I’m ready to read! It’s been hell without you baby. If you weren’t just a cold screen, I’d kiss you all over and make you fall to your knees with pleasure. But you don’t have knees, so I’ll just hold you, and love you, and read you.

I have no idea what I’m going to read first. I have a lot possibilities in my never-ending pile of books to read. Then again, maybe I should banish my Nook again until I finish the THREE manuscripts on working on right now. I’m sure my Double Threat fans would like that. As a matter of fact, they’d probably tell me to ditch two of them and work solely on Meggie’s junior year. Uh huh, I know how you Aggie or Megex lovers think.

What to do…

While I’m trying to figure out my next move, let me leave you with a book review, which author Catherine Bybee and I like to call, “It’s Smartphone Good.”

Even though my Nook was sent to visit my mother who lives 45 miles away, I just couldn’t resist Wife by Wednesday. I kept reading all these awesome review tweets. And then I started following Catherine Bybee on Twitter, who is very cool and gracious by the way. I’m a sucker for an author who responds to her readers.

So, I gave in. Without my nook, I had no other choice but to start reading Wife by Wednesday on my smartphone. At 11pm, I started reading away on my itty bitty screen and then, I couldn’t stop. The characters were so amazingly adorable. The way Blake and Samantha connected and developed their relationship was so much fun to read. They had me smiling throughout the book, laughing and crying along the way. They were really cute and sassy, and I just had to finish the book right then to read their Happily Ever After (which came by the way just before four in the morning).

I read the whole dang thing on my cell phone people. If that doesn’t tell you how great this book is, then I don’t know what will. 😉

My mom, however, read Wife by Wednesday on MY nook. She cracked my up when she sent me a text saying, “That Vanessa is such a BITCH!” Love it!

Congrats to Catherine Bybee on her first indie novel. You definitely have a winner. I can’t wait to read the sequel.

Now, if you haven’t already, go get your own copy. It’s available at Barnes and Noble and Amazon. You won’t be disappointed.

From Goodreads:

A Contemporary Romance with a dash of humor and a whole lotta sexy…

Blake Harrison:
Rich, titled, and charming… And in need of a wife by Wednesday so he turns to Sam Elliot who isn’t the business man he expected. Instead, Blake is faced with Samantha Elliot, engaging and spunky with a voice men call 900 numbers to hear.

Samantha Elliot:
Owner of Alliance, her matchmaking firm, and not on the marital menu… That is until Blake offers her ten million dollars for a one-year contract. All she needs to do is keep her attraction to her husband to herself and avoid his bed. But Blake’s toe-curling kisses and charm prove too difficult to combat. Now she needs to protect her heart so she can walk away when their mercenary life together is over.
