RCHS…Next Generation of Best Selling Authors

First of all, I would like to thank Mrs. Joyce and Mr. Oduro for giving me the opportunity to visit your school’s library. I had a great time, and your students are amazing.

I am still gushing about the fabulous time I had today. I got to meet Katrina, Angela, Hilary, Eddie, Ursula, Veronica, Chelsea, and so many others. The library was packed. We all got introduced to up and coming characters: Amita O’Connor, Eddie Amajo, and a 6-year old boy with a chainsaw. And that was just a few of the creative characters these students conjured up.

Creating characters was a blast. I actually had a good time using the formula to figure out what my characters: Meg, Keesha, Steph, and Amy would do with a chainsaw in their hands. Or what they would see if the characters stood in front of a mirror. The mirror one was hard for me. In every day life, I don’t use detailed adjectives for a person’s features. I think in basic terms, small, big, thin, round, brown, green, light, tan. I really had to think about the shapes of eyes, the style of hair, etc. and how to really describe those things in writing. That didn’t come easy to me.

The students, however, did an awesome job right there on the spot. They gave life to the mirror. Some characters laughed at themselves. Some were serious. Some thought they were the hottest person known to man, or women. It was a lot of fun.

I loved how the students were willing to share. Some read their work aloud, or I read them. Sorry if I goofed up your reading. Sometimes it’s not always easy to read something aloud with expression on the first try.

I just had a great day!!!

Thank you RCHS!!!

More to come later…
