T-7 Days! Countdown to NKOTBSB

I’d like to take this time to thank you for coming back to read about my NKOTB journey. If this is your first time, and you’re wondering what the hell I’m talking about…go back and read my previous blogs. Do it! Do it now!
Next, I’d like to say a huge thank you to New Kids On The Block! If it wasn’t for them, I would have never gone to an American Music Awards show. And I had an effing blast!
We made it! NKOTB or Bust!
I am so grateful to the NK for waiting to reunite until all their fans were old enough to have stable jobs and a steady income to fund all the concerts that we have so desperately needed to attend. On The Block DVD, Donnie (this isn’t the right link, but still a good interview) mentioned how most of their fans were now women in their 30s, who are married with children. He said he wanted to give us a night out with the girls to let our hair down and have a good time. Boy, did he deliver!
Thank you Big Screens!
View from the cheap seats!
When the AMAs were announced, again there was no doubt in my mind that I would have to get tickets. Of course, Shani was in on the fun. My daughter, Vanessa, also went to see NeYo and her bestie Nicole joined us to see Beyonce. What a night! Seeing all the performers live was worth the money, and I have been tempted to go again because it was such an awesome experience seeing everything behind the scences, how they tear down stages and erect new ones in a matter of seconds. It was totally cool.
Blockheads Unite!
From the cheap seats at the top of the Nokia Theater, I could not see the guys but we heard tons of screaming for them. I knew they were down there somewhere based on all the screaming fans calling their names. When it was finally their turn to take the stage, all the Blockheads stood, sang, and danced throught the entire performance. We held up shirts, and signs created on pillowcases which were hidden in our purses. Carrying in contraband was like trying to break into Fort Knox. I was utterly pissed that I had to leave a 20 foot sign outside in hopes that it would still be there when the show was over. It’s not like I was going to hold it up, it was meant for before and after the show. But security stopped me and made me leave it behind.
NKOTB.com Fans Coming -4-
Face Time!
By the date of the AMAs, NKOTB had launched the New Kids network on Ning, where thousands of us congregated 24 hours a day, chatting, blogging, posting pictures, etc. It was like Facebook or MySpace on crack for New Kids fans. I had a great time on that site, meeting and making new friends who shared a common interest (or should I say obsession?).
For those of us on NKOTB.com who were going to attend the AMAs, we decided to meet before the show and take pictures. We also met after the show and posed with my giant sign (which I dug out of the trash after the show). I had a great time putting faces with nicknames. Mine was DannyFanThenNowAlways. Just a bit long, don’t you think? I really should have shortened it, because it’s a pain in the ass to get the whole thing on a t-shirt. Lol.
Woo Woo!
Shawn, another Danny fan, went to
Europe to see a “few” concerts.
Danny autographed this postcard
and she sent it to me! Thank you!
Beyond making plans for shows, we got on the site to talk about our favorite guys. Each New Kid had his own section of the site where fans could post things solely about that particular guy. That’s how DannyTown was formed. The thread was initially called “Won’t you take me to…DannyTown!” Lol. I loved visiting the thread and posting comments to all the other Danny girls out there. We got a little extreme, creating oaths, fake addresses, inside jokes, etc. But most of all, we created friendships. Most of the other DannyTowners are from Texas or the east coast, and have all met each other. They have gone to concerts together, to each other’s weddings, been there for each other during the loss of a family member. You name it, they’ve done it. I have had the chance to meet only one other DannyTowner. Hi, Irene. We both live in southern California so we’ve seen each other at a few shows. Irene, are you going to the Honda Center? See ya there! What’s cool is that even though we’re not on the site anymore, the girls still keep in touch on Facebook. I’ve been having a great time lately reading about all the shows they’re going to. I have to say I’m jealous of all of you who went to Fenway! And how about the husbands traveling to see the boys, and kids too! Awesome. My own kids aren’t going with me this time, but my mom and sister are.Yay!
I wasn’t lying! I froze the TV and took
a picture. Lol.
So, I’m going to have to cut this short…it’s already late and I have a lot of TV shows that are calling my name: Suits, Unnecessary Roughness, State of Georgia, Melissa & Joey, and the best freaking show on Wednesday nights, rivaling even Modern Family, Franklin and Bash! Did you guys see MPG’s (I wanna post a link so bad) bare booty in the first episode?? Oh My Goodness! A-May-Zing!
Until tomorrow, when I take you to San Diego, I leave you with the AMA performance. “First kiss was a sweet kiss…” Check out Danny’s moves right after that line! I paused it and took a picture. AHHAHAHA!!!
